Purchased two of these Ravelli APLT4 tripods that are to be used for a mobile quick interior set-up of two off camera Nikon SB-910 flash units and umbrellas. These Ravelli APLT4 tripods are perfect for my lightweight, easy to carry for my quick semi-studio lighting set-up. These Ravelli tripods are made of black anaodized aluminum with plastic snap fittings to extend and hold the legs, a plastic crank handle to elevate the center column and a plastic swivel pan head with a Ravelli quick tripod plastic disconnect plate for a camera or flash. There is nothing to assemble and nothing came loose, this tripod is ready to use upon taking it out of it's good nylon bag. I also purchased the heavier Ravelli APGL3 tripod for my camera. There is nothing cheap or flimsey either on these Ravelli model APLT4, but a great quality tripod for the average rigors of amateur's and some pro photographers. In truth, while these tripods might not stand the extreme torture test of some heavy pounding with sledge hammers nor vice grips and the like, but for me, these Ravelli APLT4 and APGL3 tripods will shure to outlast me and fit my needs PERFECTLY! I've attached several different items from small point-and-shoots to large sized camcorders(3lbs). All the different sized cameras have remained steady on this tripod.

When used with a larger sized camcorder, I did have to make a few more adjustments in order to keep everything firm. There are many different adjustments you can make in order to change the height, angle, slope, etc.

The feel of this tripod is good, but not great. Everything is basic and gets the job done but don't expect super quality. If you are looking for professional level quality, then look elsewhere; but if you just need something simple but solid, this will do.

Update(Oct 10, 2012): I've been using this tripod for a little over 5 months and everything continues to function very well. I've been using mainly moderate to smaller sized cameras with this tripod.

The Ravelli APLT2 is a very light tripod but it still extends to a height of 50 inches. With a weight of just over 1 LB (1.15LBS) you will not be weighed down, this tripod is constructed of aluminum legs and a hard plastic head. It has the ability to change the cameras orientation from portrait to landscape. The legs have rubber feet for stability on different surfaces. The legs have 3 extendable segments for varying height. This tripod also has a extendable gearless center post for easy movement and adjustment. 

I read several reviews that brought up the "flimsy" construction. I believe they were missing the point. This is not meant to hold up a 50 lb camera in gale force wind. It will; however, work great for holding up a typical family camera while being light enough to carry around.

I purchased this through the seller, closeoutwarehouse. I got a great price, quick shipping and a brand new product. The tripod itself is working great so far, have had no issues. I am new to DSLR photography, and this is my first tripod. I chose it because of the price point, as well as the features and construction. The description on here is quite accurate. Although the head doesn't swivel right and left as much as I would like. It is very fluid going front and back. The construction seems to be of good quality and the legs and feet are fully adjustable. It is extremely light! Also it comes with a carrying bag, which I didn't realize, so that was a big plus. I am 5'6" and the total height and compact height is perfect for shooting and for carrying around. Overall I am very happy with the product and would purchase again.
